Kooikerhondje von der Bernsteinquelle
We are breeders in the German Club for Kooikerhondje (DCK) and breed according to the guidelines of the DCK, VDH and FCI.

Our goal:

TO BREED HEALTHY, VITAL  FRIENDLY, INTELLIGENT AND GOOD NATURED DOGS.

We love Kooikerhondje and are against the exploitation of dogs.

A life without a dog is a mistake

Why "Bernsteinquelle"?
We live in Pinneberg, Schleswig-Holstein, in the district Quellental and our name is Bernstein (Amber), that's how we came up with the idea for our kennel name "von der Bernsteinquelle".

Breeding:
Our puppies are reared in the house with our family and as optimally socialized as possible to prepare them for their lives. They will be familiarized with all the usual (and unusual - we also have parrots) everyday sounds, have done car rides, met children, dogs and other animals and get to know different environments.

A multitude of playing possibilities and soil conditions in the garden promote their senses and train their musculature. We start to educate them about housetraining, prevent unwanted behavior, play and cuddle with them and get them used to the body contact that is important for daily care / examination.

It goes without saying that they are regularly provided with veterinary care, dewormed and vaccinated before handing them over.

The puppies are handed out at the earliest after completion of the eighth week of life.

We are available to the future owners also after the puppy has been handed over with help and advice for any dog-related questions, in particular on topics such as behavior, education, nutrition (we b.a.r.f.) and care.

It would be great to stay in contact with the new Kooikerhondje owners.

Why do we breed in the DCK? *
Of the Kooikerhondje born in Germany, only those from DCK breeding are entered in the Dutch registry, which contains valuable data of all ancestors for the breeding and which every DCK breeder can access.
So we know that for 6 generations, Jana has 60 different dogs in the pedigree of 62 possible ancestors, i.e. the ancestral loss is 96.77% and the inbreeding rate is minimal at 0.195% (double ancestors within the great-great-great-grandparents).

The DCK is in Germany also the only Kooikerhondje breeding association, which generally (also in the Netherlands and in other foreign countries) can issue acknowledged pedigrees. Pedigrees are official documents in the legal sense and are condition for a proper further-breeding and to participate at big VDH / FCI race dog shows to present the dog.

stud dog
When choosing the stud dog, we pay attention to the best possible mating, that is, that the animals are not closely related and that they balance each other's weaknesses as much as possible. Bitch and stud dog fulfill all breeding regulations of the DCK.

If all goes well, we expect offspring in Summer 2019.
